STRABISMUS (Squint)
Strabismus is a deviation of one or both eyes as regards the fixation point (the visual axes, thus, are not directed towards the same point in space) and is told, according with the direction of such deviation: convergent strabismus or esotropia (the eye is deviated inwards, towards the nose), divergent strabismus or exotropia (the eye is deviated outwards, away from the midline) and vertical strabismus (hypertropia or hypotropia: the eye is deviated upwards or downwards).
Besides, strabismus can be congenital, can set in precociously or tardily, can be constant or intermittent (the deviations occurs only in some periods of the day), monolateral (it interests always and only one eye) or alternating (it interests both eyes alternatively).
