In the sphere of the workers health protection and of the safety in the workplace, the problem of the video display terminal work is very interesting and actual.

The CEE Directive no. 270/1990 and the Ministerial Memorandum February 22, 1991 no. 7/911 about the guidelines for using video display terminals in public administrations, prescribe precise obligations for employers, obliged to determine the safety and health conditions, especially as regards the risks for the sight and the problems of physical and mental fatigue.
The Italian legislator is compelled to comply with the Directive within December 31, 1992.
The decisions of the Pretura del Lavoro in Turin (among them, the one of December 15, 1990) extended to the video display terminal workers the enforceability of Art. 4 of D.P.R. no. 303, for which the employer is obliged to prevent possible damages coming from the above mentioned risks, with penalties in case of their non-fulfilment or non-observance. We offer a specific competence in the field of ergophtalmology and prevention of visual damage.
